“Have patience and never let what other people/public want affect what YOU want to do, because if you do you’re lost. Keep active.” G.P-O.

Photographic documentation project of mail correspondence. Hand forged communication centered on the 80s cassette scene and independant production.

I wrote to Industrial records in 1980 at age sixteen and Cosey Fanni Tutti replied sending a copy of Industrial news. This led to contact with various people in the cassette scene.

This was the beginning of an alternative education which has continued to this day and has been more personally and intellectually rewarding than formalised institutional education.

A wonderfully considered letter from Genesis P-Orridge arrived building encouragement to an extremely depressed teenager traumatised by the homicide of his 23-year-old brother.

This point of contact through writing to various people involved in non-institutional creative projects had a pivotal impact on my life.

Thirty six years later It was bliss to see my track Sedation Strokes appearing immediately after Chris and Cosey’s Re-Education Through Labour track on the 2016 Cherry Red Records release Close to the Noise floor.
